Public Safety Patrol (847) 404-6272
Mettawa patrols the village throughout the week. This resident service is provided in addition to the coverage provided by the Lake County Sheriff's department. The Mettawa Security vehicle is easily identifiable by the Mettawa Public Safety logo visible on the white pick-up truck.
Mettawa is dedicated to the protection and security of all residents and, in partnership with the Lake County Sheriff's department, to providing quality public safety services.
Last year Illinois Governor Quinn signed legislation that took effect January 1, 2012, making it illegal to put electronics in your weekly garbage collection. Therefore a special arrangement has been made with LAKES DISPOSAL to make collections on the 1st Friday of each month for electronics.

Garbage is collected weekly. Village wide garbage and recycling pickup and recycling occur on Fridays. Garbage should be out by Thursday evening or Friday morning and the bins should be removed from the curb by the evening of collection. If your garbage is ever missed or you have questions about service, contact Lake Disposable at 847-366-8582.
There is no collection on national holidays. When collection falls on one of these holidays, collections are delayed by one day.

Mettawa salts and plows all Village owned roads so that residents can travel safely and easily during the winter months when driving tends to be most hazardous.
The implementation of one of several plowing scenarios is determined by the amount of snow and ice forecast and the duration of the storm. The goal is to have all areas plowed in a timely manner so that residents and business owners are not delayed in their travels.
